The short version: your data stays on your device. We never see it.
Last updated: June 6, 2026
Dollar Insights is a personal finance app made by AI Insight Labs. We built it with one core belief: your financial data belongs to you, and only you. This page explains how that works in practice.
When you connect your Google account, we ask for read-only access to your Google Sheets. That means we can look at your Tiller spreadsheet to pull in your transactions and balances, but we can never change, edit, or delete anything in your sheet.
You can also skip Google entirely and import your data using a CSV file instead.
Either way, the data you bring in typically includes things like transaction dates, descriptions, amounts, categories, and account balances — the same stuff you see in your Tiller spreadsheet.
Dollar Insights' use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Dollar Insights requests two Google API scopes:
Google Sheets (read-only): We access spreadsheet cell values from your Tiller Foundation spreadsheet, including the Transactions, Categories, and Balance History tabs. Specific data fields include: transaction dates, descriptions, amounts, categories, account names, institution names, and account balances. We cannot create, edit, or delete any data in your Google Sheets.
Email address: We access your Google account email address solely to display which account is connected within the app. We do not use your email for marketing, communications, or any other purpose.
Google user data is used exclusively to generate personal financial visualizations, charts, budgets, spending analysis, and planning tools within your browser. All processing happens locally on your device using Web Workers — your data is never transmitted to any external server, API, or cloud service. We do not use Google user data for advertising, marketing, analytics, AI/ML model training, or any purpose other than providing you with financial insights about your own data.
Dollar Insights does not share Google user data with any third party. This includes advertisers, analytics providers, data brokers, AI/ML services, affiliates, or any other external entity. Your Google data stays in your browser and is never transmitted anywhere.
All Google user data is stored exclusively in IndexedDB within your web browser on your device. Your OAuth access token is held in browser memory for the duration of your session. Dollar Insights has no backend servers, databases, or cloud storage — there is no server-side copy of your data. Your data is protected by your browser's built-in origin isolation and same-origin security policies, meaning no other website can access it.
Your Google user data persists in your browser's IndexedDB until you choose to delete it. You can delete all data at any time by:
1. Using the "Clear Data" button on the Data page inside Dollar Insights — this instantly and permanently removes all stored transactions, balances, and import history.
2. Clearing your browser's site data for dollarinsights.net through your browser settings.
3. Revoking Dollar Insights' access from your Google Account permissions page, which immediately invalidates the OAuth token and prevents any further data access.
Because Dollar Insights has no servers, there is no server-side data to retain or delete. We cannot access your data after you clear it because we never had a copy.
Nowhere. Seriously.
Your data is stored in something called IndexedDB — it's a small database built into your web browser. Think of it like a filing cabinet that lives inside Chrome (or whatever browser you use). It never gets sent to us, uploaded to the cloud, or shared with anyone.
All the charts, summaries, and analytics you see? Those are calculated right on your computer, in the background, using something called Web Workers. It's like having a tiny analyst working inside your browser — no internet connection needed once your data is loaded.
When you click "Connect Google Sheets," you're taken to Google's own sign-in page. Google asks if you want to give Dollar Insights read-only access to your spreadsheets. If you say yes, Google sends us a temporary pass (called a token) that lets us read your sheet. That token is stored in your browser — not on our servers.
Want to disconnect? You have two easy options:
1. Click "Disconnect" inside Dollar Insights, or
2. Go to your Google Account permissions page and remove Dollar Insights from the list.
We follow Google's rules for handling your data, including their User Data Policy.
Since your data lives in your browser, you're in complete control:
Inside the app: Go to the Data page and use the "Clear Data" button. Everything gets wiped instantly.
Browser settings: Clear your browser's site data for Dollar Insights and it's all gone.
Switch devices or browsers: Your data doesn't follow you because it was never stored anywhere else. If you open Dollar Insights on a different computer, it starts fresh.
We can't delete your data for you because we never had it in the first place.
Your subscription is handled by Stripe, a trusted payment processor used by millions of businesses. We never see your full credit card number. Stripe keeps that information safe on their end — you can read their Privacy Policy for details.
No tracking cookies, no advertising cookies, no analytics cookies. The only things stored in your browser are your financial data (in IndexedDB) and your app preferences like which tab you were on last (in localStorage). Both stay on your device.
No. Dollar Insights is designed for adults managing their personal finances. You must be at least 18 to use it.
We might update it occasionally. If we make any big changes, we'll post the updated version here with a new date at the top. If you keep using Dollar Insights after a change, that means you're okay with the update.
